Cancer affects everyone – the young and old, the rich and poor, men, women and children – and represents a tremendous burden on patients, families and societies.  The theory in the scientific community is that cancer is a genetic disease caused by multiple mutations in critical genes, which stop a cell from functioning normally, and cause it to grow out of control. When the estrogen-DNA adducts form in a cell in the human body, they should be recognized as an abnormality by DNA repair enzymes—which work to maintain the integrity of our genetic material—and removed. If these adducts are not removed by the natural DNA repair processes in the cell, the faulty DNA is replicated, giving rise to genetic mutations which can lead to cancer.
